Specialist Unit Training Introduced

In response to industry demand and direct requests from members and clients, Civil Train has recently developed training, learning resources and assessment material for the national unit of competency Operate a Vehicle Loading Crane (RIIHAN307D).  This specialist unit is designed to meet the skills and knowledge requirements of truck mounted crane operators using smaller cranes that are not covered by the High Risk Licence Category “CV”.

Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, requires operators to hold a high risk work licence (CV) for Vehicle loading cranes.  A vehicle loading crane is a crane mounted on a vehicle for the purpose of loading and unloading the vehicle.  The CV high risk work licence encompasses the use of vehicle loading cranes with a capacity of 10 metre tonnes or more, including the application of load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load.
