CCF QLD congratulates our members, Bielby Holdings, JF Hull, and Albem Pty Ltd on their successful joint venture bid on the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade. This major infrastructure project has been jointly funded by both the Federal and Queensland Governments. The upgrade will expand the motorway from four to six lanes along a three-kilometre stretch between Rocklea and Oxley.
The delivery of this major infrastructure upgrade will improve travel times and reduce congestion for the more than 85,000 motorists and 12,000 commercial vehicles which travel on this section of motorway daily. In addition, the upgrade’s expanded lanes and improved design will provide a safer driving environment for Queensland motorists. The infrastructure upgrades include building higher bridges over the Oxley Creek area and two new service road connections on either side of the motorway at Oxley Creek. These infrastructure upgrades will greatly improve the motorways flood immunity as well as connectivity for local businesses and residents of Rocklea and Oxley areas.
Over the last few months the Bielby Hull Albem Joint Venture has been carrying out extensive ground testing and locating underground utility services in preparation for construction. The construction phase will begin in later 2017, with working carried out between Granard Road and Oxley Road. Furthermore, the project is expected to support 470 direct jobs during the construction phase and provide flow-on benefits to businesses in the local area.
